February 2024 Honoree
Crystal Pena, BSN, RN
Crystal helped me through some of the toughest times of my Crohn’s journey of being so sick but not knowing why. Living 2 hrs. from NYU has its struggles because my family can’t come visit every day, and Crystal made my stay so much better by always checking in on me, making sure my pain was under control and that I didn’t need help with anything.
She advocated for me when needed and made sure I had all I needed even when she wasn’t my nurse, and that really meant so much to me. She does her job thoroughly because she truly does love it and takes great pride in her work ethic. I truly believe she deserves to know how much her hard work, compassion, understanding and just overall love for her job/patients has touched people and it doesn’t go unnoticed.
She was my angel in really dark, scary times, and I cannot think of anyone more deserving.
