Crystal was my preceptor and mentor when I transitioned to being NPD. She provided me with resources and tools to be successful in my role and has gone above and beyond. After my orientation ended, she set up weekly meetings to collaborate on multiple projects and ensure I was supported in every endeavor I was pursuing, while including me on work that she was pursuing to share learning and teaching moments. She is prompt to respond to questions at any time of the day. Crystal truly cares for her colleagues, always offering solutions or just a listening ear. She has always dedicated the time in her busy schedule to supporting those around her and never rushes them in times of mentorship. She has great patience while teaching and mentoring, even if the person may ask for the same information over and over again. Even more so, she will work with that person to find a learning method or a successful reminder for them to use. In her own line of work she has come forth with great initiatives including: helping her staff become Certified Nurses, bringing awareness at the system level to the SHOUT protocol, becoming a superuser for building and creating RedCap education and sharing this with anyone that may ask for help, creating safe patient handling education, building surgicenter competencies, being Fire Safety Lead for MMC and so much more. Crystal is always kind and compassionate to those around her and is willing to support and help wherever she is needed. She is the first to be there when you are looking for advice on a project, need help troubleshooting an issue, and partner together to teach classes, build new curriculum, or learn a new skill. She truly captures what is means to be a DAISY Nurse Leader. Thank you!

Crystal has made a huge impact when it comes to providing education to the preoperative areas. Crystal is someone who truly cares for her staff at the bedside and has implemented numerous educational events to help staff practice safely, such as ERCP training, safe patient handling, and CAPA and CPAN training courses. She is always helping others on her team when it comes to providing education, such as helping to create RepCaps. Her work is seen from a local to system level, such as her work with the SHOUT protocol. Her constant advocating for her specialty areas is unparalleled.
