I am a first-time mama and was feeling all the emotions when I was unexpectedly admitted into L&D and started the induction process 12 hours later. Mostly, I just felt dazed, lost, and confused. Meeting Crystal when she started her night shift on my first night was a Godsend. She instantly came off as calm, kind, and straightforward about what was happening. She walked me through the process of starting induction and what to expect. I appreciated the way she communicated everything with me; it really set me at ease. Crystal cared for me as her patient, and it was instantly noticeable. I had to have a bedpan during my stay, and she was always kind, efficient, supportive, and sanitary during this process. I never felt embarrassed with her in this process; she made me feel very safe.

After she left the first day, I had wet, soiled sheets throughout the day, which was uncomfortable. I had such a sense of relief when I saw Crystal come into my room the second night as my night nurse. Honestly, I felt like I lucked out having such an incredible nurse for two nights in a row. She instantly came in and swapped out the bedding, gave me a new gown, and helped me clean myself up and feel normal again. Full disclosure, I am a survivor of domestic and sexual violence, and certain exams or procedures can be extra challenging for me. I always felt safe, secure, and comfortable during my exams, procedures, and in Crystal care.

It makes me emotional just thinking back about how much care she showed towards me and my baby during our time in L&D. I felt her care was genuine, and she is definitely a top-tier nurse and person. She made my time not so scary and instead made me feel at ease. She is definitely a trauma-informed nurse and a true asset to this team. Thank you so much, Crystal, I am so glad to have met you. We will never forget you, and the efficient, honest, kind, and thoughtful care you showed for both of us during our stay.
