What stands out most is her commitment to each individual student. She does not rush the learning process - she invests in it, ensuring every student leaves more confident and capable than when they arrived.
Early at the start of my time as the Nurse Staffing Coordinator, I had often heard Crystal Smith’s name spoken with great admiration - described as a valued previous staff member and someone deeply respected by current students. Having now witnessed her work firsthand, I can confidently say that the reputation is well deserved.
While rounding on clinical groups, I often find myself drawn to her group - not out of obligation, but out of genuine admiration for the way she teaches. Crystal has a unique ability to engage her students, challenging them to think critically while creating a supportive environment for learning. During post-conference, she pushes them to reach their highest potential, asking thoughtful questions and guiding meaningful discussions.
Crystal takes the time to sit with students one-on-one, walking through each step until they not only understand, but are able to confidently explain it back. Watching that transformation - from uncertainty to confidence - was a direct reflection of Crystal’s dedication and impact.

She does not rush the learning process - she invests in it, ensuring every student leaves more confident and capable than when they arrived. Because of Crystal’s approach, her students are better prepared, more confident, and ultimately provide safer, more compassionate care to their patients.
Crystal is a role model to all - especially myself. While I am not a nurse, I deeply admire her in many aspects. Her leadership, patience, and passion for developing others are qualities that extend far beyond the clinical setting and make a lasting impression on everyone she encounters.
I am especially thankful for instructors like Crystal who are dedicated to shaping our future nurses - pushing them to be their very best so that our community receives exceptional care rooted in her teaching and influence.
Beyond her work with students, Crystal is also a servant to her community, consistently showing up with a positive attitude and a genuine desire to make a difference. She leads with kindness, humility, and purpose in everything she does.
Without a doubt, Crystal Smith is more than deserving of this honor. The impact she has on her students extends far beyond the clinical setting - it shapes the future of nursing and the care patients will receive for years to come.
