September 2025 Honoree
Crystal Wiles, LPN
Crystal has been my Dad's nurse at the Sayre VA outpatient clinic. She has a great rapport with my Dad. Crystal displays compassionate care, seriousness, a sense of humor, and thoroughness when interacting with Dad. She is as quick with a comeback as my Dad is! Crystal can get him to smile when he isn't feeling well. At 93, Dad has been recently diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic renal cell carcinoma. As Dad's caregiver, I frantically called 10 minutes before the clinic closed. Crystal went above and beyond the call of duty and stayed while I drove the 30 minutes to the clinic. Sobbing uncontrollably, Crystal wrapped her arms around me and we walked to an exam room where she answered my questions, calmed my fears, related a personal story, and ordered a shower transfer bench for my Dad. She worked an hour overtime to help a person (me) in distress. When I use the MyHealtheVet website, Crystal answers my emails quickly and thoroughly. She has pointed me to the right resources within the VA system. My Dad could not be in better hands than with Crystal as his nurse.
Thank you, Crystal, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
