What people want from nurses seems to fall into one of three categories: compassion, competence, and availability. Currie could quite literally write the book on these things. She took excellent care of my grandmother while she was her patient. Currie went above and beyond the call of duty by actually visiting my grandmother and checked up on her after she was moved to another unit. I have no doubt that nurses need to be good actors, but to care enough to visit a patient who is no longer in your care really touched us all, especially my grandmother. My sister is a nurse at another hospital and even she is amazed at the care my grandmother received. However, after dealing with many healthcare workers at Beaumont, I am sure many could have similar things written about them, but our nomination goes to Currie Barich for her compassion, competence, and availability she showed towards my grandmother.
