The DAISY Award is recognized worldwide and our recent winner, Cindy Frankel, RN, ED’s nomination really demonstrates that! Cindy was nominated by a nurse she met while traveling. The nurse was so impressed with Cindy’s clinical expertise, willingness to help, and calmness during a medical emergency on an airplane flight that she actively sought out where Cindy worked and nominated her!
The United States Air Force Nurse who nominated Cindy included this in her letter: “She responded with a calm manner and provided reassuring (and correct) information to the patient and flight attendants to follow. She assessed her patient quickly and thoroughly and reassessed her during the remainder of the flight. Cindy exhibited leadership, professionalism, and compassion throughout her responses. The patient was able to be escorted at landing by EMS at which point Cindy provided the EMS crew with a brief report.”
