A nurse is frequently confronted with unexpected situations. The beginning of one night shift, a new nurse was confronted with an unexpected situation. This nurse has only 6 weeks experience and was not expected to float for another month. As we all can imagine the anxiety over this was immense. Cindy offered to stay over her shift to help the nurse get settled. She gave her a tour of the unit, showed her the charting she would have to do, as she was unaccustomed to that specific charting. Cindy ended up staying several hours after her shift should have ended to make sure her co-worker felt comfortable in her nursing role. It is this kind of devotion that we should all aspire to. Not only does having a support team like that make a tough shift easier, but makes us also better in our own lives.
Thank you, Cindy, for your compassion, your knowledge and unfailing commitment to not only our patients but also your fellow staff.

Thank you, Cynthia, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
