January 2025 Honoree
Cynthia M Amarales, LPN
I was 39 weeks & 6 days pregnant when I arrived to Tripler’s Labor & Delivery Unit in early labor. I ended up being admitted early at 2cm dilated due to decreased fetal movement. My labor began progressing shortly after being admitted & everything was fine until the evening came & our baby’s heart rate had began a cycle of dropping. Because of the evening shift's meticulous monitoring & concern for my baby & my health & well-being, they were able to assess the level of care that I truly needed & made sure that I was well-informed about the decisions that needed to be made. The doctor, midwife, and SPC Amarales showed immense levels of professionalism & empathy towards me when I began to have a nervous breakdown about the changes in my birth plan. I was taken back into the Operating Room for my C-Section & while I was very scared & anxious. The team of people listed above and SPC Cynthia Amarales did an amazing job comforting me and ensuring that I still received the remainder of my birth plan wishes.
