So let me set the stage for the crisis. It’s 5:30pm. We have 8 or 9 patients in the PACU. We have been holding patients all day, waiting on patients to be discharged and the rooms to be cleaned. We have two more patients in the OR. Upstairs, everyone is behind because the day has been so busy and they still have at least 6 patients to discharge and then admit from PACU. And there was a scheduled Meditech downtime at 6:30pm. But fear not, our fearless leader started making phone calls. Pretty sure she talked to six people barking her way up the chain of command (well, it was Cindy, there was no barking). Before it was over, they rescheduled the downtime when the census was lower. Crisis adverted! Cindy is a rock star!
