Cyndi Remington is one of our pre-scheduled RN's from supplemental. She approached me that her patient in room 10 wanted to speak with the charge nurse. As I approached the room the patient was in tears. At first, I was apprehensive as to what she was going to say. When I inquired why she was tearful, she stated that Cyndi had given her such good care that night that she was grateful beyond words, and Cyndi was gentle with her care especially when turning her. The patient's appetite also had been compromised due to her pain and since our galley is not fully equipped, Cyndi went to another unit to get her some snacks and an orange crush drink the patient had been craving.

The patient stated "Cyndi has been so nice to me and sat and listened to me when I was afraid of being alone". I have to say I was relieved at first that this was not going to be an issue, but so unbelievably touched by this patient's experience with Cyndi. I realize supplemental's role in this institution is to staff the hospital accordingly. However, Cyndi has become more than just a pre-scheduled supplemental nurse, she is an asset to MRICU. I also want to pass along my experience while working alongside of Cyndi. Cyndi not only has a good bedside manner with our patients but she is an excellent resource in many specialties.
