Cyrena is an amazing nurse who truly cares about her patients. This morning, after working all night, Cyrena grabbed supplies and headed into a previous patient's room. This particular patient has been in the ICU for almost 1 month. Cyrena had taken care of her several times over her stay, and this morning promised her to go in and help her with her hair. Cyrena spent 3 hours after her 12-hour shift- washing, detangling, and braiding this patient's waist-length hair. It had several bad mats that had developed, but Cyrena diligently combed them out in order to save it from being cut. You could tell the patient appreciated it so much. It just shows the type of caregiver and person Cyrena is. She is always willing to go above and beyond for her patients and her team. Cyrena is very knowledgeable at her job, but also so kind, caring, and selfless.

This patient has been in the ICU for almost a month. One can only imagine the emotional toll that can take on someone. During and after the patient's personal "Cyrena Spa," you could tell she felt better. Her demeanor was more relaxed and open, and she was definitely more interactive. You could tell how much it meant to the patient. You could also tell how much it meant to the team. Several of her coworkers commented that she went above and beyond.

Cyrena made me feel like I was much more than a patient. I felt like my recovery really mattered to her as well as my mental health and happiness. She really did go above and beyond what her job calls for. Words do not express how amazing a person she is.
