When we saw the sign for the DAISY Award at the hospital, we knew immediately of Cy, a very deserving recipient of this award. From the moment Dad was admitted to the moment he was discharged, Cy was attentive to not only Dad, but to the entire family. He greeted Dad with a handshake and sent him on his way home with a firm handshake and a huge smile. Cy had excellent follow-through. If we had any needs or questions, he was right on it until the need was met. While being very efficient with his time, Cy never seemed rushed or hurried to leave the room. He made Dad feel important and worthy of his time. He always had a smile on his face and would ask, “Do you need anything else before I go?” He cared. On the way to the procedure, Dad remembers how Cy met him in the hallway and wished him well. Another trait of Cy’s that may seem small but means a lot to a patient is how he always called Dad by his name. It makes a patient feel like a real person that matters. Cy also kept Dad and the family informed about everything going on and when he would be leaving the shift, and when he would be returning. Cy did an excellent job explaining the discharge plan in a patient-friendly manner. Cy is everything a patient could wish for in a nurse and is very deserving of this award.

He went above and beyond to take good care of my grandpa. He’s very polite and jumps on any concerns our family had for him. He’s such an amazing, loving, caring, kind nurse. I’m very grateful to have him as a nurse for my grandpa. He always makes sure my grandpa is as comfortable as can be. Also, he’s very respectful with our entire family. Any questions or concerns we’ve had, Cy took very good care to make sure his needs were met. Cy is a very compassionate person with such a bright and bubbly attitude. I wish we had many more nurses like him. He’s a very awesome nurse. I love everything about him. Every time he saw our family, he would always stop for a minute and say hi with the biggest smile. I can tell he’s very passionate about his job by the way he takes care of anyone.
