A patient was admitted after a motorcycle accident. He and his family were from Mississippi. The patient didn't have health insurance and his lengthy hospital stay was a financial strain on him and his family, not to mention the emotional strain from being away from his children. One evening, realizing the stress the family was under, Daina made a homemade dinner of chicken with dumplings and apple pie. She brought it into the unit so this family could have a home cooked meal for their dinner. The family was extremely appreciative of the love and care shown by Daina. This is only one example of the many ways that Daina goes above and beyond to care for the patients in her unit.
