Daisy Armendariz 2, RN
We have a patient who has had a long stay with us in the PICU and is going home soon, requiring complex medical care.
The mother of this child cannot read or write and speaks Spanish, but is going to be caring for the child at home. Daisy speaks Spanish and has been taking the time to teach the mother how to read and write in Spanish, along with teaching her how to care for her child at home.
Even in her off time, Daisy has come up with several ways to help the mother learn to care for her child, despite the mother's difficulty reading and writing. This mother’s progress and ability to care for her child are largely due to Daisy taking the time to teach her.
Daisy comes to work every shift full of compassion and patience for this family and has built a wonderful relationship with them, and we are so thankful to have her here in the PICU. Daisy is our Daisy Nurse!
