Dalis has been an exceptional nurse manager during the challenges we have faced with our ever-changing COVID patient population. During the days when we were short-staffed as a result of the pandemic, she stepped up and helped on the unit, providing direct patient care as a bedside nurse, working as the charge nurse, and helping out as secretary. Her fantastic work ethic helped inspire others to contribute a bit more and together the unit made it through some very busy days.

Dalis has been a wonderful role model to everyone on P2C as we navigate the ever-changing world of COVID. Dalis takes the time to touch base with staff after we have difficult patient experiences. She is always proactive about debriefing with staff, but as a nurse should she listens to our concerns first and then offers to support us as best she can. She is always kind and nonjudgmental when debriefing with staff, making us feel supported and letting us know she hears our concerns. Dalis offers real solutions and makes sure we have the tools to do our best work with our patients. Dalis is kind to all members of the care team, making us feel welcome and appreciated. She always takes the time to thank staff members, making us feel recognized for our contributions and motivated to provide great care.

Personally, Dalis has made me feel welcome on P2C by making sure I and other staff members had hospital-provided scrub skirts, which honor our personal and religious beliefs. This small act of kindness has made me and others feel welcome and comfortable at work when we weren’t able to wear our own scrubs due to infection control. Dalis is a fantastic leader who knows how difficult working at the bedside can be. She demonstrated kindness and positivity every day helping to keep team morale high during stressful times.
