Most importantly, you knew Dalton cared about my Dad, twice he came to see him after his shift, when my Dad had not been his patient that day.
My Dad, J, was admitted to CCU with COVID Pneumonia. He was in the CCU for 10 days before he passed. We probably had Dalton as his nurse, for four or five of those days, Dalton always spoke to my Dad directly, explaining what he was doing, why he was doing it, and most importantly, he encouraged him to fight and get better. He would lean down to my father and raise his voice to make sure my dad understood him (knowing it was hard to understand people, due to the loud oxygen and us all wearing masks). He would ask my Dad about the Phillies game (knowing we are all Phillies fans, rooting them on for the World Series).

Dalton was also training a new nurse and he was great with her as well. He really took time to explain things to her, and when he gave her something to do, he would watch to make sure she was doing it correctly... like not just giving her "his work" but giving her a chance to do something so she could be hands-on and learn.

Most importantly, you knew Dalton cared about my Dad, twice he came to see him after his shift, when my Dad had not been his patient that day. When My Dad was about to pass away, Dalton stopped in to see him after his shift, he visited for about 20 minutes.... at this point, we all knew my Dad's days were coming to an end, but we were still hoping for a miracle. Dalton told my dad he had off for the next 3 days, he gave my Dad a little pep talk, he was honest and encouraging. I have 4 siblings, we were all there with my Dad, as well as my mom, this was by far the hardest time in my life, my Dad couldn't understand why he was gonna die, Dalton made this whole terrible experience just a little more bearable for all of us. He was by far the best nurse that we had in the CCU, Dalton is right where he should be... giving care to people who are sick.
