Dalton held strong in what he knew was the right thing for me when I didn’t know for myself.
While I have spent the vast majority of my life with some connection to healthcare (mostly through work), I have had almost no experience as a patient (I have only been in the hospital to have my daughter and outpatient surgery). After a long surgery, I was brought to the SW6 unit where Dalton Fisher took care of me for most of my stay. I can’t say enough about the outstanding care he provided me.
I can’t imagine that taking care of the CNO is something many would jump up and down to do but he handled it like a true professional. I also believe that this is how he takes care of all of his patients. I had comfort that in all his actions he was, first and foremost, keeping me safe as he did so with dignity and respect. I had received many hours of anesthesia but felt like I could conquer the world. He politely followed all the safety measures he needed to - use of a gait belt, falls precautions, medication administration, etc. He also ensured that I was steady enough on my feet before he allowed my friend to even begin to get me up by herself. I so respect how he managed my care without minimizing me and my wishes.
Dalton held strong in what he knew was the right thing for me when I didn’t know for myself. One side effect that I have when taking anesthesia is I talk a lot! He listened – responded kindly! I am sure he thought I was crazy but you would have never known it. I know that he had a lot of responsibilities during his shift and I never felt like I was a burden or he was rushed at all - that is a gift. I do believe he is a healer and the ultimate caregiver!

I would like to take the time to say Dalton Fisher was so very helpful and made my stay at MVH a great one. He is so organized, helpful, takes his job very seriously, and is very professional in all that he does. He took time to make sure and figure out what was not right with my IVs so that I was comfortable after my surgery. Never did I hear a negative word or vibes whenever he cared for me. He is a wonderful nurse and person doing his job to the fullest going beyond the call of duty. Because of this amazing young man, I would come back to this hospital and can only hope that Dalton would be my nurse again. I hope you know how much of an asset he is to MVH. He is a nurse’s nurse and I really appreciate him being a great nurse.
