My mom was at the hospital for 60 days (7 different rooms) and 30 days at the hospital rehab facility. Hands down, Damaris went above and beyond as a compassionate, caring loving nurse and friend. She called family members to update us on Mom's status. She stopped into Mom's room each time she worked-even when Mom wasn't assigned to her-just to check on her and brighten her day. Damaris even walked over to the rehab after Mom was discharged to visit her-Mom called her "an angel". Damaris made a very long, difficult, scary, lonely hospitalization more bearable and actually enjoyable. We are honored to have the opportunity to nominate Damaris for the DAISY Award.
Damaris is very attentive, explains every med she is giving my brother. Always checking on him and I, to see if we need anything. She has a way of making you feel very comfortable like you are no bother whatsoever. Like my brother is a king an she is here to serve him. She just makes us feel like family, like as if we were her very own bro and sis. There should be more people like her.
