Dan is a pleasure to work with. He takes all concerns seriously and problem solves them efficiently. He acknowledges mistakes and works to correct them. He is very compassionate and advocates for patients. He works with systems to improve patient care practices. He is very knowledgeable.
***
Dan is amazing to our staff and patients all day, every day. His recent promotion to RN3 was incredibly deserved and his nursing staff feels so supported by Dan. He is always working to better the care we give to our homeless population here at Respite and is an example to us all. He is the ideal representative of nursing excellence here at HMC.
***
Excellence in nursing, great team leader.
***
Dan consistently displays integrity and kindness each day he works. His commitment to improving the systems within Respite in order to support his colleagues and the patients he serves is clear in his empathy, dedication to quality work and taking steps above and beyond what's expected.
***
Dan goes above and beyond for patients and coworkers on a regular basis. I have seen him calmly and respectfully de-escalate a client who was on the verge of throwing a colostomy bag across the room. Through his respectful engagement, Dan was able to preserve enough rapport that he was able to successfully perform ostomy care and the patient went from being incredibly angry to re-engaging in his care. He is always available as a charge nurse for consultation or to assist with client needs. He is so wonderful and calming with our difficult to engage patients. Working with him is a true pleasure, and my workday would be worse without his support.
***
Medical Respite services a challenging population of homeless patients who often have addiction and co-morbid mental health problems. Dan is always up to the task demonstrating patience, kindness and compassionate care. He strives for excellence in providing high-quality care without losing sight of efficiency and providing a supportive workplace environment. He is proactive in making systematic changes to improve care and always open to feedback from staff. I can think of no one more deserving of recognition for excellence in nursing than Dan.
