Dana was incredibly sweet and eased my fear tremendously.
I was admitted just a few hours after my cholecystectomy. I was diagnosed with severe gallstone pancreatitis and I was in horrible pain and very scared. Being a nurse myself, I desperately did not want to be a bothersome patient. Dana gently reminded me multiple times that it was OK to cry and experience the pain and react however my body did to that pain. She reminded me that I deserve care just as much as any other patient and that I did not need to be stoic during a time when I did not feel good. Dana was incredibly sweet and eased my fear tremendously. She was on top of my pain medicine so that during her shift, I was as comfortable as possible. She has an excellent bedside manner and a real concern for her patients. I want to nominate Dana, not only as her patient but as a fellow nurse. She demonstrated exactly what it means to be the caregiver during a scary time and make that time easier for the patient and family. Thank you, Dana, for letting me know that it's OK to step out of my nursing shoes and give up control for the sake of my own health. I will be forever grateful that you were my nurse during the scariest time of my life. You are absolutely DAISY-worthy!
