I took care of a patient the shift after Dana had been his nurse. The patient's sister thanked me at the bedside for all the care and compassion her brother and their family had received during his stay. She then went on to tell me how kind Dana had been specifically. She stated that Dana asked questions about her brother and who he was before his illness. The sister told me that her brother loved to go dancing in his hay day and that she shared this information with Dana. Dana then handwrote a note to the family and told them that she looked forward to the patient teaching her to dance someday. The sister was teary-eyed by this point and told me how much that simple act meant to her and her family. Dana always goes above and beyond for her patients and for her fellow nurses. She is kind, compassionate, incredibly smart, and always willing to lend a helping hand.
