DanaStarr has been an outstanding addition to our OR team. She is efficient and organized. Her enthusiasm is contagious, and she is always quick to help others. Her attentive and soothing bedside manner is heartwarming. She clearly cares about her patients and co-workers and it’s impossible not to smile in per presence.

A memorable example of her consideration was when I observed her give a stuffed animal to a surgical patient. She adorned it in a bouffant cap and placed a dressing on the same extremity as the patient’s surgical site. I was very touched by her extra effort to comfort our patient during a stressful situation. She deserves recognition for her impressive nursing skills, positive attitude, and dedication to making each patient feel safe and special.

I was diagnosed with my 3rd shoulder surgery. Super unhappy and dreading the thought of another year of shoulder recovery, I showed up to my surgery with nothing but dread. DanaStarr was the nurse in surgery with me. We met before surgery and she got a few laughs out of me. I wanted to wear heart rose-colored glasses to surgery to try and make the day "more fun" I explained to DanaStarr, but I couldn't find any. Ten minutes later I had homemade heart-shaped glasses, she made me a pair out of paper. Going into my operation this nurse managed to get me to go in smiling.

To top it all off when I woke up from surgery, she had bedazzled my sling with super positive messages. I still have most of the jewel stickers and they make a difference in my attitude, they remind me to smile. This nurse for sure made my experience 100% better above and beyond!
