I came to visit a friend in ICU, Ms.M, back in December. I watched as Ms. Hunt would come from her unit on breaks, etc. to check on Ms.M, encourage Ms.M's two boys who came from out of town to wait on their mother to die. I learned that Danaye, a single woman, had been caring for Ms.M at her own home during her illness. Ms.M was no relation-kin to Ms. Hunt, though they lived 5 or 6 miles apart. They were only acquainted, but when Ms. Hunt realized Ms.M was ill, had no close relatives, and was needing help "in and out" of the hospital, Ms. Hunt gave of herself for weeks tending that woman. I was thoroughly impressed. She has a nurses heart. Not just on the clock or in front of the supervisors. I saw her console that woman's boys and try to encourage all who were in the room as the final breaths came! The world needs more like her! When I asked did she like her job, "yes!" she said, "I've been here for fifteen years." I think WRMC has a jewel in Danaye Hunt.
