I believe Nurse Dani is the reason this type of recognition was created. When Dani first introduced herself to me, I felt instantly relaxed. She assured me I was in good hands not just with her, but with the entire staff. She then did a full body assessment which would prove critical in my future Plasmapheresis treatment. I was having my treatment in which I was receiving actual plasma (I normally only receive Albumin) I never needed plasma in any of my prior treatments. I was in post-op from a total Hysterectomy six days prior and required this plasma replacement. I received one treatment with the plasma and had a slight reaction yet I was not aware it was a reaction to the plasma. I thought I was having a hot flash and therefore did not communicate to anyone the symptoms I had felt. When my second treatment was over and one blood was getting ready to leave, I again started to feel the rising heat in my face again. Dani had once again been checking on me and noticed a very, very small red spot on my collarbone and asked the one blood when this began. The rep advised no prior adverse reaction. Within two minutes of her noticing this minute spot on my collarbone, my entire neck and face were covered in large welts, my face was tingling, burning and my lips and tongue were numb. Dani quickly jumped into action and literally saved my life. I say saved my life because I have a very rare autoimmune disorder and per my Dr., my body would not have stopped rejecting the plasma and if Dani had not acted so swiftly in stopping this allergic reaction, the consequences could have been devastating. I am continuing my Plasmapheresis without the additional plasma and look forward to a speedy recovery. Once one blood left my room it would only have taken minutes for this severe reaction to have claimed my life. I would have choked on my own tongue. Thanks to Dani's attentive nature towards her patients, I am here to write this lengthy plea to congratulate her for this DAISY Award. This is the type of nursing that make 5-star Hospitals. Thank you for hiring the best. God Bless.
