Dani Florence, BSN, RN, CRN
I received a call in my office from a patient. The patient shared that she had been seen in the radiology department for a biopsy several weeks ago. After several days had passed, she could not get her results. Dani listened to the patient's story and called the pulmonologist's office herself several times to ask them to please contact their patient and the results of her biopsy. After more days passed, and more calls from Dani, the pulmonologist did call the patient to deliver the unfortunate results of her positive biopsy and told her that they would refer her to an oncologist.
Dani called the appropriate physician offices to arrange for a referral and an office visit with a local oncologist. The patient called me to share her story and tell me that she credits RN Dani Florence as her personal angel for ensuring that her biopsy results were communicated. The patient further shared that she believes she is finally scheduled to receive the appropriate treatment and has an opportunity for recovery because of RN Dani's actions. I am proud of Dani Florence’s amazing determination and patient advocacy.
