Danica has been a nurse with RWJ Barnabas for the last 10 years and in the Cath lab here at Somerset for the past 3 years. During her time here she has received countless all-star nominations from patients but nothing has stood out more than the personalized letter we received in September. A patient in the Cath lab was undergoing a cardiac catheterization for the first time. This day was extra special to them because it was their 59th anniversary and they were celebrating it in the hospital with their spouse by their side. It has been a tradition for the past 59 years on this day to have a toasted almond Good Humor bar and their spouse had mentioned how they were trying to find this particular ice cream bar for the past several months. The patient’s spouse told Danica this story and simply asked if she could get them a vanilla ice cream instead to mix with the toasted almonds that they had brought from home. Danica went out of her way to not only find ice cream for the couple but to find the exact Good Humor toasted almond bar the spouse had mentioned. The couple was so grateful for her compassion that day and sent her a thank you letter along with a picture of them enjoying this very meaningful and special treat. Danica's commitment to her job and her patients go above and beyond. Danica has been a great asset to this team and not only are we lucky to have her but her patients are as well.
