January 2023 Honoree
Daniel Ciamaichelo, RN
Daniel displayed incredible diagnostic skills when he was told by a patient after being ambulatory that her foot "hurt". He showed incredible medical awareness and decided to do a physical exam on her foot and palpate for pulses. Once he discovered the foot was cold, he immediately notified me (Dr. S) and expressed his concerns. Within hours she was in the Cath lab getting an emergent Thrombectomy due to complete obstruction of her right common Iliac Artery. Had he not demonstrated excellent physical exam skills, communication skills, and clinical knowledge, my patient would have lost her right leg because I was otherwise in the clinic all day and would not have seen her until evening rounds. My patient and I owe him many thanks.
Thank you, Daniel, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
