Daniel McMillan, BSN, RN
My family and I would like to formally nominate Daniel, a nurse in the Neuro ICU at UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, for his exceptional professionalism, attentiveness, and compassionate patient care.
My father was admitted to the Neuro ICU with a severe brain hemorrhage and has been intubated for an extended period. During this time, he had been wearing his dentures continuously for nearly two weeks. Due to the complexity of his intubation and critical condition, no one had been able to safely remove the dentures. Unfortunately, this led to painful mouth ulcers.
When I informed Daniel that what appeared to be my father's teeth were actually removable dentures, he immediately understood the concern. With great care, patience, and clinical skill, Daniel safely and successfully removed the dentures—something that had not been possible before. This intervention made a significant difference in my father's comfort and care. Since then, his mouth ulcers have begun to heal.
Daniel's attention to detail, willingness to listen to family concerns, and commitment to patient well-being truly stood out during an incredibly difficult time for our family. His actions went beyond routine care and demonstrated both professional excellence and genuine compassion.
We are deeply grateful for Daniel's care and dedication.
