I am a cardiac anesthesiologist at UMC. I was called to the Cath lab for an intraoperative emergency where a patient was in a life-threatening condition. The patient was in extremis and required emergent stabilization. We had to intubate the patient, place an arterial line, and a central line all within minutes in order to have a successful outcome. Dan Nguyen in the Cath lab had an excellent awareness of everything I would need without even asking for it. We also encountered a difficult airway, and he knew all the steps I would need to successfully intubate the patient. Further, he moved with efficiency and without any form of nervousness. Thankfully, the patient was able to survive and is now recovering in the ICU. Dan should be commended for absolutely outstanding nursing care in the face of a life-threatening emergency.
