Daniel's kind, easy going spirit is an encouraging presence, which is so important when you are dealing with illness and a downcast state of mind.
My dad had triple by-pass surgery at OHI. During his 34 day hospital stay, we had so many amazing nurses but I want to recognize Daniel Terrill for his extraordinary nursing. My dad referred to Daniel as "a real live angel."
On the day of my dad's 3rd swallow study, my dad confided to Daniel that he was really scared of taking the test and really scared of failing it again. He got vulnerable and asked Daniel to pray for him. Daniel did not hesitate. He prayed such a heartfelt prayer and totally put my dad's mind and heart at ease.
Daniel's kind, easy going spirit is an encouraging presence, which is so important when you are dealing with illness and a downcast state of mind. Daniel never acts frustrated or irritated and my dad would mention that a lot. He'd say, "I sure like that guy. I don't know how he doesn't get completely tired of me, but he never acts like he is."
He also made a way for my dad to get to go on 2 outdoor walks when my dad was starting to stir crazy from being inside a hospital room for so long. The outdoor scenery and the fresh air were just what the doctor ordered!
On the last day of my dad's stay at OHI ICU, Daniel was once again my dad's nurse. My dad said, "Oh boy! I have the dream team today." Dream team indeed. Thanks Daniel for loving my dad so well. I will always appreciate the great care you gave.
Thank you, Daniel, for your willingness to go above and beyond your call of duty.
