I am the Clinical Coordinator for 4 West. Danny is not only our manager but a great resource in our unit. On days that we have been short-staffed, he has jumped in and served as a patient care technician, ensuring that our bedbound patients remained clean and were turned in a timely manner. When we have codes, he’s in there doing compressions and actively working for the best outcome for the patient. When we have patients who are a “hard stick,” we know we can ask him to help us get an ultrasound-guided IV placed so there is no delay in medication administration. It has become such a helpful tool that he has begun teaching classes to increase the number of nurses who can perform this skill.

He frequently rounds on staff, asking how we’re doing, listens to our concerns, and asks how he can assist us with our goals. He actively seeks opportunities to improve our standard of care by pursuing evidence-based practice and encouraging quality improvement projects by our staff. Through Danny, our unit has initiated and assisted with numerous projects over the past several months to reduce readmissions for our CHF patients, the creation of a discharge lounge to help improve throughput, standardization of shift report, and fall reduction. For those that work holidays, Danny and his wife cook for us so we can still celebrate. We feel so supported in every way. Danny, thank you for all you do for 4 West!
