I was admitted to the hospital in March via the Emergency Room. I was in the ER for 8 hours then transferred to the 5th Floor. When I got to my room, the nurse Dan greeted me. He informed me of the medication ordered for me by the doctor. He reassured me that the doctor was aware of my symptoms and there were meds available to me as I needed them. He instantly put me at ease. Dan was very compassionate and understanding of how I was feeling and what I was experiencing. As busy as Dan was, he kept checking on me to make sure I was comfortable or if I needed anything. During the 3 days I was there, he took care of me for 2 nights. I looked forward to him coming on shift and being my nurse. He made me feel comfortable and well cared for. Dan always had a smile and a positive approach to his care of me. I felt Dan went above and beyond for the excellent care and compassion that he showed toward me. I hope Dan will be recognized and acknowledged for his excellent nursing skills. Dan made a very difficult situation more tolerable.
