Earlier this month, I was at one of the lowest points in my entire life. During this point, I made the poor choice of overdosing with the hope of ending my life. Fortunately, I was able to get help through a friend who brought me to Bellin ER. All the nurses were exceptional in that unit. I was then transferred to the ICU, where Dani was a nurse. From the time I entered the room, Dani treated me with the utmost respect, dignity, and care. At no point did I feel a sense of judgment or shame from her for the reason I was admitted. She was attentive to what I needed, and extremely responsive although I knew the floor was busy.

Throughout the night, she continued to demonstrate authentic compassion and love that was felt through the work that she did. She showed great confidence and knowledge in her work as well. There is nothing Dani said in particular that showed me such great love and compassion, it was just through the way she did her job and her actions presented a warm, inviting, and comfortable presence. She is hands down one of the best nurses I’ve been cared for by. I was blessed to be taken care of by Dani and the dignity, hope, and love she showed just through her work helped immensely to make such a terrible night a little brighter.
