I would like to nominate Danielle Carter for The DAISY Award. Since stepping into her role as Unit Manager of Adult Psych, she has assisted in improving morale by increasing and sustaining staff and decreasing traveler usage. Danielle approaches each day on the unit with her whole heart, advocating for the patients and her staff. She checks in with each staff member and asks if they need help. She also asks about their personal well-being and encourages a healthy work-life balance. She remembers the name of her staff’s loved ones and make sure to check in on them. No one goes unnoticed on her team. The patients feel Danielle’s compassion as well. Danielle takes time to build rapport with our patients and is there instantly if an issue arises. Recently we had a complex patient case and Danielle began working with the assigned nurse to help ensure the best possible outcomes. Danielle sat with the patient, stroked their head to help soothe, while also playing music for the patient to promote comfort. She also helped the patient with her ADLs and worked with the sitter to ensure safety. Danielle always has a smile on her face, keeps an open door, and consistently supports her unit. We appreciate her; her support encourages us to be better teammates and caregivers!
