Danielle was so down to earth that although my family couldn't be there to support me I never felt "alone" thanks to Danielle.
I was transported by EMTs from the Bridgton ME hospital to Maine Medical Center due to Gallstone Pancreatitis. I was all alone, scared, in pain, and absolutely stressed beyond belief. I had given birth earlier that week to my first child and I was also upset that I had to be away from him.
As I arrived at the hospital, I was greeted by Danielle. Although she was wearing a mask (due to COVID), you could still feel her smile and empathy. She was SO caring toward my situation and let me cry to her as she contently listened. I told her how I was scared about having surgery (since I had never had surgery before) and sad about being away from my son and husband. She gave me so much reassurance and support that helped calm my nerves and made me feel better about the situation I was in.
I am incredibly thankful for Danielle not only for the amazing bedside manner and fantastic care but the overall amazing experience she provided. Danielle would check on me literally every 30 minutes to an hour. I felt I was always cared for at every second. She would always make sure I had everything I needed and some! One of the sweetest things that she did for me, that I will never forget is the fact that she offered me a cell phone charger. When I arrived at the hospital I literally only had my phone- no purse, no charger, no wallet...literally I had nothing other than the clothes I wore and my cell phone which was at 30%. She knew that talking to my family was something that I absolutely needed and she made it happen. Danielle also asked if I was breastfeeding and made sure I had access to a breast pump. She was SO thoughtful about making sure I had everything I needed for me at the hospital but also for my baby at home.
I can't say enough positive things about Danielle and my experience at Maine Medical. With all of the stress of the virus along with leaving a newborn at home AND being absolutely alone...I truly had amazing care. Danielle was so down to earth that although my family couldn't be there to support me I never felt "alone" thanks to Danielle. She would make it a point to ask about the baby or just get to know me at every interaction which I really, really, really appreciated.
When I think of an amazing employee, I think of someone who always goes above and beyond and Danielle did that. I don't throw this word around a lot but Danielle was the PERFECT nurse. I will never forget her! Again, I'm SO thankful to have had her as a nurse. Maine Medical Center along with our Portland community is very lucky to have Danielle.
