Danielle was caring for a 5-year-old who was hospitalized after a trauma. Danielle played with the patient and let him sit with her while she was charting because he was alone. The patient became a DCFS case and eventually was not allowed to be discharged with his family. Danielle took special efforts to go shopping for this boy and bought him toys with his favorite character on them and several outfits, shoes, socks and underwear. The patient's only belonging was a pair of shorts. Danielle bought the items on her day off and drove an hour from her home to deliver the items.
