Danielle Garcia has always demonstrated compassion to all of the children she cares for each and every day. She has a special gift when caring for her patients. She is often seen comforting those children; with a smile, a caring touch, giving hugs freely, or just providing soothing words of comfort when needed. She not only provides care for the children assigned to her, but also their parents. She is always willing to spend as much time as needed when it comes to teaching, answering questions, or just letting the parent vent because they are so scared their child is sick.
Because Danielle is bilingual, she immediately puts our Spanish speaking only children and parents at ease by being able to effectively communicate with them. Danielle never shies away from tough assignments, nor complains about the assignment. She never asks what she can do for a patient; she has a “sense” and anticipates their needs. Danielle always has a positive “can do” attitude and is a role model for our less seasoned nurses and students. She has extraordinary bedside skills and is able to care for any children who are admitted to our unit.
Here is just one of the many letters from a patients’ family who was recently admitted to her Unit:
This is just a little something to show our appreciation for everything you have done for us. You will always be in our thoughts and in our heart. You saved our son and words will never explain how thankful we are that you were there. You gave us hope to get through this and you gave us our little family back. We will thank God for you every day and will tell our son all about you.
