I am a social worker at a children’s hospital in Philadelphia and I work with many nurses daily. I typically have high expectations for nurses in general because I know how amazing they can be and how helpful they are for new moms. I was recently admitted to give birth and was lucky enough to get a nurse who went above all expectations on the postpartum delivery floor at Pennsylvania Hospital (4th floor). I was so nervous after giving birth and had so many questions about caring for my new baby. Instead of telling me how busy she was with her other patients Danielle (Dani) took the time to help me feed, listen to my concerns, reassure my worries, and answer my questions. She explained everything she was doing with our new addition and stayed to make sure I understood everything that was being done. Dani is an absolutely amazing nurse. I feel so incredibly fortunate to have been able to work with her during my admission for two nights! I had multiple nurses throughout my stay but nobody compares to the care that Dani provided and the way that she made me feel. I truly appreciate her dedication to the nursing profession and am so grateful for her. I hope that she can be recognized for her amazing work and at the very least be told how incredible she is and how much she helped me get a head start on this new mom journey.
