We celebrated with cake and ice cream, and Dani bought a gift from the CVICU for me. It was so thoughtful of her.
My husband, J, and I found that Dani was caring and compassionate. She went above and beyond what she had to do to help both of us. J was in the CVICU for 70 days, and every day seemed to be eventful. Dani helped both of us get through these difficult times.
One example: so many healthcare staff would stop in his room all day that it was hard for him to eat. He had lost close to 60 pounds and needed to eat so he would not get a feeding tube. During mealtimes, she put a sign on his door that no one was allowed to enter unless they saw her first. That was a great idea because it really helped.
Another example: J had a very bad bloody nose. Dani held his nose until someone from ENT was able to come up to take care of it. She did this with a smile on her face and good conversation. J and I were in the CVICU over our birthdays. We celebrated with cake and ice cream, and Dani bought a gift from the CVICU for me. It was so thoughtful of her. She would often stop in during the day and check on J and me or help J with something. She would also stop in on her way out to say goodbye in the evening.
I also watched many nurses train other nurses. Dani did an outstanding job training other nurses. She followed them as they did the procedure and was right there to help and explain in detail the way to do things. We have become friends with Dani. We enjoy seeing her smile when she enters the room. She does an exceptional job as a nurse.
