I came into the clinic for fear of being judged, but I did not want to miss my appointment. My two kids came with me, large car seats, and probably 20 huge stuffed animals in tow.

The kids and I left our home, where domestic violence was present. We left before, but this time we just packed up some items and left again. I couldn’t miss my appointment as I need to be here and healthy for my kids now more than ever. This is where I met Danielle. She had no judgment for me or my situation. She took my kids and watched them the entire time I was with the doctor.

She bought the kids cupcakes and colored with them. She made them feel cared about and safe – something they hadn’t felt in a bit. She then walked us to the ER so that my daughter could be seen for her nasty cough. Talking to her leader, it turns out she doesn’t even work in the clinic; she was just helping for the day. Just meeting her doesn’t surprise me that she would help others out.

Before she left me, she gave me resources and a number to call for extra assistance. Danielle went above and beyond for my kids and me yesterday. I am grateful for her.
