My baby was born three weeks early and was pretty small, as I was diagnosed with IUGR for the last part of my pregnancy. He had to go to the NICU due to blood sugar issues. The big hurdle that made this situation even more difficult for me was that I tested positive for COVID upon being admitted to the hospital, and due to policy, I wasn’t able to visit my baby in the NICU. It was pretty devastating to not be able to see him and to be separated. I understood why, but it was pretty hard for me after just giving birth. Danielle Starr is the one we consider the angel of our hospital stay. She had such empathy for our situation and was so kind and understanding. She texted regular updates and pictures through the hospital iPad and checked in on me in my room, even though it meant suiting up with extra PPE each time she came to give me an update. She made little crafts with my son’s footprints and mementos that we will treasure forever. She even followed through to help give him his first bath in my room once he was stable enough to come and travel to my room. Her kindness, expertise, and the extra mile she went for me made all the difference. Thank you!
