April 2021 Honoree
danielle m wilson, RN
While breaking the tele-sitter, I observed Danielle Wilson talking and calming a patient that was having a difficult time breathing. I could clearly see and hear that the patient was in distress and getting agitated and scared. Danielle took the patient's hand in hers and spoke softly and quietly to him, her voice and touch were visibly calming to the patient. She stayed with the patient speaking to him, reassuring him, and calming him until his breathing returned to a normal rate and the patient became calm.
It is not often we see what happens between a patient and a nurse when they are in the room and alone and this encounter was observed this day because the patient was on the tele-sitter camera. She did a great job in keeping the situation under control, not allowing the patient's nervous and scared state to take over her calmness. Great job Danielle!

Thank you, Danielle, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
