Dani was the nurse who took care of my mother, from the moment she helped settle her into the room until the day we left. Dani was nothing but professional attentive kind compassionate and caring. She went above and beyond anything we would or could have expected.
My mother was fighting Pulmonary Fibrosis for the last 3 years and was now at the point where the disease was at its worst. She decided she wanted to stop all treatments and let nature take its course. Dani brought in drinks and snacks and made every accommodation for our family so that we could navigate the last few days as comfortable as needed. On the final day, my mother wanted a shower/bath and to wash her hair. Dani was so thoughtful she brought her own hair towel and blow dryer for our mom so she wouldn't have wet hair. She answered any questions we had without hesitation and kept us informed of the matters and process at hand. Her compassion and be side manner exemplified exactly what a nurse should be.
As my mother's final moment came, it was through tears that Dani let us know she had passed. To our family, this showed not only how serious Dani takes her job, but how much effort she puts into and cares for each of her patients. Our daughter will be graduating in the spring with her nursing degree. Dani never missed an opportunity to speak with her and explain anything she was doing and why. Our daughter was so inspired and even made the comment she hopes she can be half the nurse Dani is.
Overland Park Regional Hospital is lucky to have a nurse such as Dani. Kind compassionate, caring, focused and gives 100% effort. After our time with her, she has shown us what one should expect for excellence in nursing. Thank you for the time and consideration.
