My dad suffered a massive heart attack/cardiac arrest on Sunday night and spent a few days in OHICU until he unfortunately passed. All of the staff that cared for my daddy, especially the nurses, were wonderful.
Danielle was extremely compassionate and understanding of all the people in and out of the room. She continuously offered to get us anything that we needed and was fantastic in caring for my dad. She explained in detail what was happening and when I didn't understand she explained until I could. I fell asleep many times in a chair next to my dad and not once did she wake me or have me move to work on my dad. She actually told me many times to not move, that she would work around me and that I was important to help my dad heal. She covered me with blankets when I'd fall asleep, put pillows under my head so I didn't get kinks.
At one point my dad was getting too much stimulation and Danielle said it would be better if we turned off his music and darkened the room and tried not to touch him so much; I thought his movements were a good sign and when I realized it wasn't I had to leave the room. When I came back Danielle saw I was very upset and wanted to make sure she did not upset me and hugged me and explained that it's good he's moving, but my dad was becoming agitated and that wasn't ok.
When I had to say goodbye to my dad, Danielle cried with me, held my hand, held me, hugged me, my mom, and husband and told us if we needed anything to reach out to her. She made me feel a bit better about the horrible situation we were in. I honestly don't know she stayed so positive and upbeat through all of tears and screams.
