Danielle made us very comfortable and put us at ease because she knew just what to do for us at the right time.
There was a nurse who cared for my husband, who was just exceptional and moved like a gazelle.
She took care of my husband, fresh from the OR after having his second major surgery within six days. He came to the room at 3 in the morning, and this nurse cared for him competently, paying attention to all his overbearing needs as if he were the only patient she had. She checked on him frequently. She made us very comfortable and put us at ease because she knew just what to do for us at the right time.
I have spent most of my days and nights with my husband, so I get to observe the dynamics of floor nursing. It is always challenging for nurses to meet the needs of their very needy and sick clients. What a job!
After being married to my husband for 48 years, I find it more comfortable to sleep at his bedside, as opposed to leaving him. This nurse made it easy for me to have a restful night. As bedtime drew near, without asking, she brought me extra blankets, sheets, and pillows. She helped me adjust the recliner so I could feel as if I was in my own bed. She dimmed the lights and pulled the screen to provide privacy. These little things had such an impact and added to the charm she provides.
Because of the amazing care she provided and her attention to detail, it is my honor to recommend our nurse …Danielle Obermaier, for the DAISY Award for recognition with NYU. The enthusiasm Danielle brings to her patients is very inspirational, noticeable, and even contagious. How nice! I wish Danielle a long and successful career in nursing as she aspires to reach her maximum potential. She is a great role model and a nursing leader in our profession. I deeply commend her.
Her nurse educator wrote, “I was able to witness firsthand the difference Danielle made and the comfort the family felt when she was on for the shift. Danielle advocated for the patient and his family and ensured that the provider was in close communication with them at all times. As the wife said, Danielle moved as gracefully as a gazelle, and she appreciated her presence. She even called Danielle a leader for the future of nursing. The patient’s wife is a retired nurse, and she shared that she recognized the potential that Danielle embodied and that Danielle is an inspiration to those coming behind her."
