Dani is an excellent nurse who takes the time to get to know each of her patients. Besides being aware of her patient's clinical picture, Dani also forms relationships with her patients. This includes Dani having awareness of a patient's likes/dislikes, things they worry about or need.
On one occasion, Dani was taking care of an elderly gentleman, 91, who had had recent abdominal surgery. This gentleman yelled at every staff member who entered his room. He had specific demands and he had no issues in letting us know exactly what he wanted. Although this was not Dani's patient she went in to assist whenever he yelled out.
On one occasion he let her know that he was a "grumpy old man" but that he also had a hard time hearing as his hearing aid batteries were dying. Dani loved taking care of him from the get-go.
Although Dani was sick herself, she still went in to meet his requests and she made sure to smile at every demand to be turned this way or that way, even coaxing him out of bed despite his reluctance. Dani got sent home early that day because she was sick. But before going home Dani went to a local Walgreens to pick up hearing aid batteries for this patient.
This exemplifies extraordinary nursing care.
