A true bright spot in a very dark time.
While this letter comes late, it does not come with any less heart or gratitude. Last year, our family was forever changed. We brought our beloved mother, grandmother & great-grandmother to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center early in the morning, where she was promptly triaged & tended to for septic shock. She was transferred to the medical ICU, where she was treated by the most outstanding team of professionals we have ever experienced. About the time she was intubated and central lines were placed, her night shift nurse, Dani, arrived. Dani was with her for the next 4 nights. During those nights, there were so many medications she was responsible for and monitors to tend to. It's hard to believe one person could manage it all. Dani still treated the person on the bed, beneath all that equipment, with compassion and dignity. Dani exuded competence and educated us while she provided above and beyond care to our loved one. We are so thankful we had Dani for 4 nights in a row. A true bright spot in a very dark time. The patient was a nurse, and we know she would have been amazed by Dani's work. She deserves to be recognized over and over again. Our family will never forget her, and we hope she knows how safe we felt with our loved one in her care. This letter comes not just from a loving family but also a family of medical professionals. We want you to know that these special humans behind the walls of your hospital are doing the work of angels on earth.
