I have worked with Dani for 2 years on the 8th floor, medical unit. Dani consistently demonstrates compassion and empathy towards all of her patients with a positive attitude. I have witnessed as a fellow bedside RN and a charge nurse that Dani goes above and beyond in the care she provides to every patient she is assigned to. Dani will also sign up to be a primary nurse for some of the most complex and difficult patients. She builds relationships with families and patients, and they know that their kid is in excellent hands. I think examples like this shows how big of a heart she has.
Her patient's families are always requesting to have her back as their nurse. Dani strives to include the family in all of the patients' cares and educates them throughout their hospital stay to ensure they are confident about going home. Dani is always updating the family and asking if they understand what is happening. I have witnessed her escalate care appropriately and truly advocate for patients and ensure that the parents were included and understood how the patient's condition was changing. This allowed the family to feel empowered through the education that Dani provided.
As a team player on the unit, Dani is always bringing smiles to people's faces and lifting the mood. Even when everyone is having a busy shift, she is able to find something positive. Dani is the first person to volunteer to help another nurse or clinical assistant out, even when she has busy assignments.
Dani takes professionalism, communication, teamwork, quality, and safety very seriously. Dani is constantly taking the time to look up policies, check safe dosing on medications, and following our TargetZero bundles. Dani also communicates effectively with providers to report any concerns and to update the team appropriately. She is a valued member of the care team and gives recommendations to the providers when deemed necessary to advocate for her patient's needs. Dani has also been selected as an RN on our floor to precept and teach new nurses, as well as students. She passes along her attention to detail and strengths to the nurses that she orients to our unit.
Dani has been recognized multiple times by family members on our units by exceeding their expectations and truly going above and beyond for the patients in her care. Additionally, Dani is now a GI Liaison for the 8th floor. She is working with nurses, providers, and families to ensure our patients with GI disorders receive the best, most current and consistent care.
