We traveled to Nebraska entering your hospital as a married couple about to face the most difficult and beautiful 48 hours of our life. The birth mother is in charge for the first 48 hours and makes decisions. This birthmother granted us equality and ability to spend time with the baby. Danielle was the nurse providing care for the birthmother when we arrived. Danielle walked a journey with us that is forever forged in grace and mercy. She talked us through first diaper changes, feedings and things we truly needed with a newborn. She asked about 'us' taking a genuine interest in who we are and where our hearts were headed.
We watched as she cared for our birthmother. A woman who had just actively shown all who were there what love really is, sacrifice. We watched Danielle with everyone she encountered. She smiled as the hours passed, as she introduced us to the night nurse, as she shared her story and as she listened to ours. We had been afraid of the time that was in front of us in the hospital, had let worry seep into the excitement of this moment in our journey, yet Danielle quelled our fears.
We loved the entire staff that we got to know, they all were kind. We are truly grateful to not only have been placed in your facility but to have been honored to meet Danielle.
